Private Tutoring

At BY THE BOOK Tutoring, I offer personalized, one-on-one instruction for children and adults in reading and spelling using the Barton Reading & Spelling System. This research-based, Orton-Gillingham influenced program is designed specifically for individuals struggling with dyslexia and other reading challenges. Instruction begins by strengthening phonological awareness—the foundational skill most often at the root of reading difficulties. From there, students systematically build the skills needed to become confident, capable readers and spellers.

Each session is tailored to meet the learner’s unique needs in a supportive and encouraging environment. By combining structure with compassion, I help students gain both the skills and the self-confidence to reach their full potential. Speech-Language Pathologist

I am a licensed speech-language pathologist in California and hold certification through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). For several years, I worked in California public schools, where I supported students with a wide range of communication needs. During that time, I observed that many of my students struggled significantly with reading, yet the schools often lacked the tools to identify or address dyslexia and related learning differences. This experience ignited a deep passion in me to serve these overlooked learners.

Today, my mission is to provide targeted, effective support to individuals with reading challenges and to help foster a lifelong love of reading in every student I work with.
